Cumbuco is where Brazilian kitesurfing found its rhythm. a once-sleepy fishing village on the coast of Ceará, twenty-something kilometers from Fortaleza, it grew into one of the sport's most iconic addresses without ever losing its sand-street, barefoot character. palm trees lean permanently sideways here, shaped by a wind that doesn't visit, it lives.

from July to January, the wind blows steady and strong across Cumbuco's beach, day after day, turning the bay into a training ground for riders from every corner of the world. just behind the dunes, the flat, glassy waters of Lagoa do Cauípe offer something rarer still: a stretch calm enough to learn your first jump, and open enough to push your last one further. buggies cut tracks through the orange dunes at sunset, and the horizon holds a hundred kites at once, each one catching the last light before the wind eases into evening.
